Microsoft has decided to discontinue Wiki in Microsoft Teams starting from February 2023, a decision that does not seem to have been consulted with the people using the platform.
Microsoft is retiring Wikis in Teams. If you're using this time to assess alternative options, you may find BookStack to be a suitable alternative:https://t.co/3FClLirxCt

It is another project that gets killed by a big tech corporation, adding it to the list of discontinued platforms as presented here killedby.tech/microsoft. This is more proof that these corporations can impact your workflow with just a decision from their product managers, without taking into account the disruption that these decision create for small/medium teams like yours. The Micro$oft team urges users to start replacing MS Wiki in Teams with One Note.
Our advice: migrate to an open source platform that ensures more continuity for your data.
Open source projects can be forked or maintained by the community if there is interest. They can even be further developed by single entities that want the project to be around without creating such disruptions. Here are some of these open source platforms with similar features that can replace Micro$oft Wiki:
BookStack
BookStack is the ideal platform for your knowledge base and for storing and organizing information and documentation. It is an opinionated wiki system that provides a pleasant and simple out-of-the-box experience. New users to an instance should find the experience intuitive, and only basic word-processing skills should be required to get involved in creating content on BookStack. The platform provides advanced power features to those that desire it, but they should not interfere with the core simple user experience.
MediaWiki
MediaWiki is free and open-source wiki software which helps your team collaborate and makes documentation of internal or external processes easier. It runs on many websites, including Wikipedia, Wiktionary and Wikimedia Commons to mention a few. Like WordPress, which is based on a similar licensing and architecture, it has become the dominant software in its category. Since it’s launch, MediaWiki’s development has been coordinated by the Wikimedia Foundation. Besides its use on Wikimedia sites, MediaWiki has been used as a knowledge management and content management system on many thousands of websites, public and private.
DokuWiki
DokuWiki is a simple to use and highly versatile Open Source wiki software. While MediaWiki is meant for large and complicated wikis, DokuWiki is meant for smaller, and simpler wikis. DokuWiki includes built-in access controls and authentication connectors, and many plugins—this set of features make it useful in the enterprise context and allow its use for a broad range of use cases. It provides various customization options, through the admin interface, through downloading of templates and plugins to developing your own extensions.
